Supercharged Foods for Your Teeth

Excellent oral hygiene is essential for healthy teeth, but the foods you choose can make a massive difference to your dental health. Try to include some of the following foods to help prevent tooth decay and gum disease.

Cheese

Cheese is packed with calcium, and it also helps to interrupt the action of decay-causing bacteria in the mouth. Instead of dessert, choose the cheese board because it’s an excellent way to finish a meal.

Fish

You need calcium for healthy teeth and gums, but your body needs vitamin D to absorb it adequately. Fatty fish such as salmon is an excellent source of vitamin D, and it’s great for your overall health too.

Oranges

Although oranges are acidic, they contain vitamin C helping to strengthen blood vessels and connective tissues in your gums, reducing the risk of gum disease.

Crunchy Fruits and Vegetables

These are high in fibre which has a slight scrubbing action on teeth. Chewing them also helps to stimulate saliva production, washing away excess bacteria and food particles. Also, fruits and veggies are full of essential nutrients.

Black and Green Tea

Tea is full of polyphenols that help to fight the bacteria found in dental plaque. It’s an excellent reason for drinking more tea and especially after a meal!
