Four Spring Tips for a Healthier Mouth

While you’re doing some spring cleaning, don’t forget to check your dental hygiene supplies. We’ve listed for easy spring tips to help you maintain a healthy mouth.

  1. Get rid of ageing toothbrushes and replace them with shiny new ones, as most people need a new toothbrush every three months. If you are using an old and worn toothbrush, it will clean your teeth less effectively. Also, if you have had a virus recently, purchase a new toothbrush as the old one may harbour harmful bacteria.
  2. Check the expiry date on mouthwash bottles as they can be less effective when they go beyond their expiration date, and they may taste slightly strange too. If your mouthwash is out of date, purchase a new bottle, and preferably one that contains fluoride, and which has antimicrobial properties to fight bacteria.
  3. Treat yourself to some new dental floss and stock up to make sure you don’t run out. You need a length of approximately 45 cm each time to ensure you use a fresh section for every tooth.
