A porcelain veneer consists of a very thin shell of porcelain custom-made to fit over the tooth. Usually, it is necessary for our dentist to prepare the tooth, removing a minimal amount of its surface to create enough room for the veneer. The veneer is made in a dental laboratory and is bonded onto the tooth surface, creating a natural yet more cosmetically appealing appearance.
Porcelain veneers will mask teeth, hiding small imperfections such as chips or cracks, or teeth that are too small or which aren’t an ideal shape. They are also useful for hiding teeth that are internally stained, and which will not respond to tooth whitening treatments. It is possible to have just one or two porcelain veneers or to opt for multiple veneers hiding most or all the teeth visible when you smile.
